Rehabilitation

Physical rehabilitation is the treatment of an acute or chronic injury to decrease pain and restore function. When rest alone does not relieve pain the body compensates and protectively adapts to protect the injured area.  These protective mechanisms alter normal musculoskeletal movement, which in turn places strain on other body parts.  Dr. Chiaramonte is a certified, rehabilitation-trained veterinarian who uses physical medicine and modalities to restore functional ability and relieve pain. Modalities used are therapeutic ultrasound, treadmills, laser therapy, therapeutic massage, therapeutic exercise and heat and cold therapy. A brief list of conditions that can be treated using rehabilitation are: osteoarthritis, obesity, neurological and musculoskeletal injuries.  More information can be found on www.rehabvets.org.
